University of North Dakota

UND offers a large variety of fully online bachelor’s degrees in engineering. These include a Bachelor of Science Degree in: Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering. These programs range from 125-129 credit hours and can be completed in four-six years. UND uses “Blackboard” as their learning management system, which students can log onto at times that suit their schedules. There are three enrollment periods per year and online services include tutoring and writing assistance, career development services, tech support, and academic advising. Annual tuition is $20,202.

University of Arizona

This school offers an online Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Courses include computer programming for engineering applications, circuit theory, and microprocessor organization. The coursework in this program follows an asynchronous format (everything is recorded) and is hosted on the Desire2Learn learning management system. Courses are condensed into 7.5-week terms, and students can study full-time or part-time. U of A has rolling admissions all year long and students can start their studies in one of six start dates per year. Online students have access to alumni mentors, tutors and coaches, and a disability resource center if they need accommodations. Annual tuition is $18,600.

Ferris State University

This Michigan based university offers two online programs. The first is a Bachelor of Science in Digital Media Software Engineering, which is a full bachelor’s degree program. The other is a Bachelor of Science in HVACR Engineering Technology and Energy Management, which is a degree completion program for those with prior college credits. The HVACR program is for students seeking a career in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration. FSU delivers their online courses through the Canvas system, which allows students to work on courses at their convenience (all coursework is recorded and online). There are merit based scholarships available to first year students. Annual tuition is $14,570.

Arizona State University Online

ASU Online is one of the largest providers of online higher education in the country. They offer three online bachelor’s degrees in engineering: a Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering, a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, and a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management. Faculty of these programs includes members of the National Academy of Engineering and the National Academy of Inventors. Students do all their coursework through the Canvas learning management system – which allows students to do their work totally on their schedule. Online students can participate in interactive, hands-on learning activities independently or even in a group. ASU also offers many scholarships that are available only to engineering students. Annual tuition is $17,186.

Stony Brook University

This program and its host school are part of the State University of New York system. They offer an online Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. This 120-credit program requires 44 credits of courses in the major. The couses include Object Oriented Programming for Electrical and Computer Engineers, and Semiconductor Devices. All coursework in this program is fully online and asynchronous, allowing students to work at their convenience. First year students are automatically considered for merit-based scholarships and are eligible for the same support services as other Stony Brook students, including student success resources. Annual tuition is $9,560.
