Are You Looking for Happiness?

What has happened the past year has left many people emotionally inflated. So, if you’re one of them, you’re not alone. Most people have found it hard to find cheer during the pandemic, and all probably need of serious mood boost. However, even though this time was as trying as it is, people still struggled to find happiness even when things were okay. This is why the positive psychology industry first came to be in the 90s.

So, is there something you can do to help improve your mood and general outlook of life? Indeed, there’s a lot you can do to help you feel more fulfilled and feeling great about your life. Here are some strategies.

Get active, Get out

Exercise and fresh air are a strong mood-lifting combo. So, if you got the COVID-19 vaccine, take some time and go outdoors, take off your mask and move about. Regular exercise is a great way to improve your mood and health. Aerobic activities like running, walking, and biking help release mood-boosting hormones in the body, help reduce stress and leave you feeling better about yourself.

Also, when your muscles are working when you’re doing aerobics activities like swimming, walking, or even yoga, it boosts serotonin levels in the brain. Serotonin acts similar to antidepressants and is designed to help boost moods.

Appreciate tiny pleasures

Some of your best days can be ruined by something so small. Meeting a grouchy colleague, misplacing your keys, or accidentally stubbing your toes can sometimes end up dampening one’s day. However, when you reverse this, you get the same results. Studies have demonstrated that if one takes the time to appreciate the tiny, delightful moments they’re having, they can feel happier

Limit your decisions

Having many choices can sometimes cause a lot of stress. Your choices can, in some way, dictate your happiness. Think about how stressful it would be if you couldn’t control anything happening in your life. With that said, studies have shown how more options can result in more chances for regret. Too many choices can sometimes bring your mood down. On the other hand, it can be freeing not having to make decisions throughout the day constantly.
