People fantasize about bragging about their accomplishments, giving up their jobs, purchasing their ideal home, or leaving the nation if they were to win a lottery. A recent survey reveals that people do behave differently when cash is at stake, but not in an anticipated way. In actuality, 83% would never reveal their gains to anyone!
Only 1% of people say they play the lottery regularly
Play Pennsylvania conducted a poll of more than 1,100 people to learn about people’s lottery play patterns and how they’ll feel if they win the lotto. Only 1% of people who regularly play the lottery admit to doing so, and 20% say they have never purchased a ticket. However, two out of five people say they will take part in the lottery once it reaches the Mega Millions.
Nearly one-third of lottery players will stake their bets with just a single ticket because it is a game of luck. To boost their chances of winning large money, one in four individuals buys more than five tickets. Individuals routinely use similar methods to choose their numbers. For instance, survey participants mentioned filling up their tickets with a fortunate number, a birth date, or the date of an anniversary. Picking random numbers is still the most effective method, though.
50% of the respondents would rather divide the money with family
When asked what would happen if they purchased a ticket for somebody and they won the lottery, almost 50% of those surveyed had made plans in advance and agreed to divide the funds with friends, family members, or significant others.
People would be more likely to demand a share from their colleagues (58%) than from their relatives (38%) if the lottery ticket was for around $1 million! The majority believe their coworkers will underpay them by $20,000 if they do decide to split the wins with somebody, and 49% believe their fortunate coworkers will “forget” to split the windfall.
When asked what they would do with the money, 10% stated they would quit their job, while three in five individuals said they would leave within six months of winning.
